Sleep is a fat-loss and muscle tool
Short sleep raises hunger hormones, lowers fullness hormones, and makes every habit harder. Regular beats long.
The full lesson
Sleep deprivation raises ghrelin (hunger), lowers leptin (fullness), and makes the brain crave quick sugar and fat the next day. It makes workouts feel harder and willpower thinner. Muscle repair happens mostly during sleep. Most adults do best with 7 or more hours.
But the goal is not "eight hours or you failed." It is a little more, a little more regular. The most effective single change is a consistent wake time, even on the weekend. The three most common fixable sleep-stealers: caffeine after 2 p.m., a screen in bed, and a warm bedroom. If you snore loudly or wake unrefreshed most days, ask a doctor about sleep apnea — it is common and treatable.
Remember
- Same wake time every day.
- Caffeine cutoff, screens off, cool room.
