Why everyone should lift something
Strength training keeps muscle while fat goes, builds it when you eat enough, protects bones, and makes stairs and chairs easy for life.
The full lesson
Muscle is like a savings account. Fat loss without strength work spends from savings and checking at the same time. Strength work says: take it from checking (fat), leave the savings (muscle). For muscle building, strength work is the deposit itself.
It is not bodybuilding. Chair stands, wall push-ups, band rows and carrying groceries are strength training. Two days a week with a day between, 8–12 repetitions, stopping each set with two or three "left in the tank," is enough to change your life. After 50, after menopause, and on weight-loss medications, it matters even more because muscle loss speeds up.
Remember
- Muscle is the savings account.
- Two days a week changes daily life.
A gentle correction: Lifting will not make you bulky by accident. Muscle is hard to build; it takes months of effort and food.
Try this: Do your level's strength routine twice this week.
